Chart-topper Marti Pellow to join cast of hit show, Blood Brothers
Wet Wet Wet frontman, Marti Pellow will be joining the cast of Blood Brothers for a limited period at the Phoenix Theatre from 1 November 2011.
The nineties heartthrob will be taking on the role of The Narrator in the London show. Marti Pellow has had success with a string of chart topping singles and albums as lead singer of Wet Wet Wet and also as a solo artist. He has three UK number one singles and over twenty five chart hits to his name, including Love is All Around which is one of the UK’s top three most played singles of all time – he has also been in a number of musicals including the recent tour of Jekyll & Hyde; Marti Pellow in the UKTW Archive.
Blood Brothers has had a long and successful history on the London stage. The show first opened in the West End in 1983 for a short stint and then, in 1987, Bill Kenwright acquired the rights to the musical and a rejuvenated ‘Blood Brothers’ returned to the stage in July the following year at the Albery Theatre. The show moved to the Phoenix Theatre in November 1991 where it has remained to this day – Blood Brothers London tickets are available from SeatChoice.
The musical is set in 1960’s working class Liverpool where a set of twins are separated at birth. The story follows their paths back to each other where they encounter anger and ultimately friendship. Blood Brothers is directed by Bob Tomson and Bill Kenwright with musical direction by Rod Edwards. The show is designed by Marty Flood. Previous cast members have included Spice Girl Melanie C, Kiki Dee, four of the Nolan Sisters, Lyn Paul and Anthony Costa of boy band ‘Blue’.
The musical has won numerous awards, including an Olivier Award for best new musical. Blood Brothers is now taking bookings to 24 Nov 2012.
