The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
C.S. Lewis’s much loved children’s book The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is to get the outdoor theatrical treatment this summer.
The new production, co-directed by Rupert Goold and Michael Fentiman, will run from 8 May to 9 September 2012 in Kensington Gardens, London. The show will be incorporating stunning surround video staging by Threesixty theatre.
The techniques used by Threesixty first wowed audiences back in 2009 with the fully immersive adaptation of Peter pan. The experience will be staged in a tent and involves 360 degree video and spectacular puppetry giving audiences a truly unique journey into Narnia.
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is the classic story of four war time siblings who discover a magical land through a wardrobe door.
Speaking about the family production, Goold said: “What I hope to evoke is the power of faith and the danger of tyranny in a rougher more elemental telling of the story. I’m thrilled to be working again with artists who have been at the heart of my recent work at Headlong and the RSC and can’t wait to be working in the round again in the exciting possibilities the threesixty tent offers.”
Additional details regarding the production (casting etc. ) have yet to be announced – details can be found on UK Theatre Web
