Weston’s new Theatre
Comedy, music, dance and theatre are all part of an exciting line-up of events at the former Tropicana building in Weston-super-Mare.
North Somerset Council has announced that eight ‘Theatre @ The Bay‘ shows will take place at the seafront venue during December and January.
Many of them will have a festive feel and will include daytime and evening performances suitable for both adults and children.
The announcement of the shows follows the huge success of Banksy’s Dismaland which attracted around 200,000 visitors during its five-week run at the venue.
“Hosting Dismaland demonstrated the building’s huge potential as a venue for arts and entertainment,” said Council Leader, Cllr Nigel Ashton. “It is important that we now capitalise on the legacy created by Dismaland.
“These shows are just the start of establishing the venue as an arts and entertainment centre as part of our wider regeneration plans for the town where more people want to live, learn and spend their leisure time.”
The ‘Theatre @ The Bay‘ programme has been organised by the council in partnership with North Somerset’s arts development charity The Theatre Orchard. The line-up is:
Nutshell Nutcracker, presented by The Theatre Orchard and Ballet Central, from 10-17 December (excluding the 14th)
Neither There Nor Here, by Fine Chisel, from 19-22 December (excluding the 20th)
