Frequently Asked Questions

Why SeatChoice?

Q1: Why do we need a site like SeatChoice?

In the UK, tickets for a single event can be sold through a large number of retailers. Each retailer will get an allocation of tickets to sell (e.g. the front two rows of the circle) but, with some limitations, they can charge a wide range of prices, so long as they always tell you wnat the original 'face value' of the ticket was. This can lead to some strange situations like one supplier saying a show is sold out when another supplier has plenty of tickets, or one supplier selling a ticket at face value + a booking fee and another selling a ticket for an adjacent seat at a 20% discount! The net effect can be that two people sitting in the same seating area can have paid wildly different prices for the privilege! In the West End, the differences can be substantial (£25 or more per ticket).

Q2: What are Meal+Event and Hotel+Event deals?

Some ticket retailers will sell a package of a show ticket and a meal, or a show ticket and a hotel room. These tend to be excellent value for money and can mean that you effectively get the meal (or room) free by paying the face value of the ticket!

Q3: What are booking fees and are they fair?

Ticket retailers will usually add one or more booking fees, and sometimes hidden fees too. SeatChoice tries to make these explicit, especially when using the live search facility. The fees you can expect to see may include one or more of; (a) per ticket booking fee (e.g. £4.50 per ticket), (b) per transaction booking fee (e.g. £2.50 per purchase), and (c) Delivery charges (which may include a fee for collect at box office!). Most, if not all fees, will be omitted for discounted tickets. Are these fees fair? That's for you to decide, what SeatChoice aim to do is make the process as transparent as possible so that you can make an informed decision that you are happy with!

Q4: What types of suppliers are there?

The main suppliers we deal with are members of the Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers(STAR). The operator of SeatChoice (Dynamic Listing Ltd) is itself an affiliate member of STAR who aim to provide Secure Tickets from Authorised Retailers. STAR members deal only in authorised and safe tickets and have established minimum customer service terms and conditions. Some ticket agents are "primary retailers" in that they do handle authorised stock, but they have not signed up to the STAR charter - these may be actual theatre box offices. Next come the ticket resellers; fan-to-fan exchange sites, though they often work in much more mysterious ways than that! At SeatChoice we only deal with established secondary sites run by reputable companies with good customer service promises - though remember, they (and you) are always subject to the whims of the seller. Reseller fees and charges can be very high and the price that you are likely to pay for a ticket may be many times its original face value - but then if it is the last ticket to a must-see show you might actually want to pay! The comes eBay (we don't go there) and, further off in the shadows, the tout, scam and basically fraudulent wesites and individuals whom I hope you never fall foul of.

Q5: How does SeatChoice save me from fraud?

We have selected mostly STAR members plus a few resellers (where we are convinced that they are operating a legitimate business with good customer support). We do not include any sites that we have not personally checked out.

Q6: Why does SeatChoice use so many suppliers?

To give you the choices you need - to find the right ticket at a price you ar ecomfortable paying! Quite often, to find tickets for all venues on a tour you will need multiple suppliers, some shows use less well known outlets. How many suppliers can you find, and check out, quickly - we do more than 20 every day! Click the i symbol next to each supplier name in the listings to learn more about them!

Q7: How does SeatChoice save me money?

We find the best deals going and present them all together in one place. Actually, you might not end up buying the cheapest, that's why we offer so many choices, it is for you to decide not us! Why not see some of our hints and tips!

Q8: How does SeatChoice save me time?

By presenting links to up to 20 suppliers for any show, links that take you directly to the correct page on that supplier's site, we save you having to search for suppliers, find out who is legitimate, search each supplier site for the show/date and find the price .... we can even stop you looking for dates that are basically sold out ... how annoying to check 15 suppliers each of whom has no tickets left only to find the 16th has what you wanted ... we would have taken you there straight away .... good eh?!
